PRINT-FRIENDLY VERSION Maggie Wilderotter Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Frontier Communications Corporation Interviewed on 08/13/2008 Provide an overview of Frontier Communications: Frontier Communications is the second largest rural telephone company in the United States. We do business in 24 states, 285 counties, and we provide a full array of communication services, and that includes telephone service, broadband high speed internet access, video capability into the home. We also provide to our business customers an array of broadband, data, voice, and network services. So we’ve been in business for about 75 years, and we are very actively involved in our local communities Where do growth opportunities exist for Frontier Communications? We are a big provider in rural America, and one of the things that we take pride in is that we provide our customers in our markets the opportunity to live where they want to live and work where they live and not have to worry about being in a big city but can still have all of the telecommunications services that you would require in a big city. So you can be virtual and live in rural America, have a great quality of life, and so what we’ve seen in the last several years is many people migrating to rural America. They want a simpler lifestyle, they want affordability, they want an active community, and there’s a number of retirees that have also moved to a number of our markets, so we’re really excited and bullish on the opportunities for rural America and telecommunications services. Discuss Frontier Communications Peace of Mind: When we think about customer service for our customers, we think about delivering products that actually ease the peace of mind for customers. So if you think about using the Internet, if you even think about having teleconferencing that you’re doing from a business perspective, for small businesses, and for individual users, when services work in technology, they’re terrific. But if there’s any hiccups, there’s always this “Oh, my goodness, what do I do about it?” So what we try to do is surround all of our products with what we call Peace of Mind, which is a set of services that allows the user to call us anytime, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and they know Frontier will be there for them. We’ll walk them through changes, we’ll help them set up printers in their homes, we’ll help small businesses do their networking, and we just make telecommunications services simple for the customer What is your favorite part of your job? My favorite part of my job is really two facets. One is when I get out with customers, and I can listen and learn from them as to what’s important to them, I hear the stories on how they use our services, on how they would like to see services be different. And one of the fun things for me is to be able to hear their point of view, and then to be able to react quickly within our organization to change how we deliver services to be more competitive and more proactive and focused on what the customer experience is. But the other facet that I love in my job are my employees. I sort of look at any business, the greatest asset are the people that work in that business every single day. Even though Frontier is a technology company, that really doesn’t matter. It’s the human judgment. It’s the ability to take technology and humanize it for our customers that really matters, and we have 6,000 employees in our organization that do a terrific job of that every single day, and I learn from them every day as well.
